Company networks may block AutoRec by routing traffic through a proxy or by blocking outgoing connections via a firewall.
Proxy Access
AutoRec Server runs as the Local System account (NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM)
Checking Local System Proxy Configuration
You can check proxy settings for NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM by running Internet Explorer as this account.
- Get PsExec (standalone exe, not an installer)
- Run cmd as admin, then run this command:
psexec -s -i "%programfiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" - Check the proxy configuration in IE

AutoRec Server (Firewall config)
If AutoRec Server is installed on a machine that does not use the Windows Firewall e.g. you are letting the AntiVirus software act as firewall, then you must add these rules manually to the firewall.
- Allow incoming local traffic on TCP for the ports 20000 to 32767
- Allow outgoing TCP on ports 80 and 443 over the internet
